Routine after play
- Remove chalk dust and debris with an appropriate table brush.
- Store balls clean and dry.
- Return pins to a safe container rather than leaving them loose.
- Cover the playing surface when the table is not used.
Level and environment
Small changes in level are obvious on a compact precision game. Avoid damp rooms, direct heat and rapid humidity swings. Check that the cabinet is stable before adjusting levellers.
Cloth care
Do not use household sprays or aggressive vacuum heads. Brush lightly, follow the cloth manufacturer's guidance and address tears before they spread. Re-clothing involves hole edges and bed access, so experience matters.
Balls and pins
Dirt changes roll and transfers to the cloth. Use products suitable for billiard balls and dry them fully. Inspect pins for chips, bent stems or mismatched weight.
Timer and return
Test every scoring channel, the return tray and the end-of-game gate. Do not force a jammed mechanism. Photograph internal assemblies before removing parts and label hardware carefully.
When to call a specialist
Seek experienced help for an uneven bed, dead cushions, recurring jams, electrical timer issues, missing internal parts, major cabinet movement or a full restoration.
